What the app does
Bulk Operations for Confluence lets you run a single change across many pages in a Confluence space at once — starting with bulk find-and-replace. Instead of opening pages one by one to fix a renamed product, a moved URL, or an outdated term, you describe the change once, review a preview of every page it will touch, and apply it in one step. Every change is snapshotted so you can undo it afterwards.
The app is built on Atlassian Forge and runs entirely inside your Atlassian Cloud instance. It makes no external network calls and stores no content outside Confluence — see Privacy.
Common use cases
- Rebrands and renames — replace an old product, team, or company name across an entire space in one pass.
- Moved or broken links — update a URL or domain that appears in many pages.
- Terminology cleanup — standardise wording (e.g. "log in" vs "sign in") across documentation.
- Outdated references — fix version numbers, dates, or system names that recur throughout a space.
Requirements
- A Confluence Cloud site.
- Permission to install Marketplace apps (a Confluence/site administrator), or an admin to install it for you.
- Space permissions to edit the pages you want to change — the app acts within your existing Confluence permissions and cannot change pages you couldn't edit yourself.
Installation & setup
- Install from the Atlassian Marketplace. Open the listing for Bulk Operations for Confluence and choose Get it now / Install, then select your Confluence site. Site administrators can also install it from Confluence → Settings → Manage apps → Find new apps.
- Approve the requested permissions. On install you'll be asked to grant the scopes the app needs (see Permissions below). The app cannot run until these are approved.
- Open the app in a space. The app adds a Bulk Operations entry to a space. Go to the space where you want to make changes and open Bulk Operations from the space sidebar / Content area. There is nothing else to configure — no API keys, accounts, or external setup.
Permissions the app requests (and why)
- Read pages — to scan the pages in your selected scope and find matches for the preview.
- Read spaces — to let you pick the space and list its pages.
- Write pages — to apply the change to pages once you confirm the preview.
- App storage — to save the pre-change state of each page so the operation can be undone.
How to use it
- Open Bulk Operations in the target space.
- Choose the operation — bulk find-and-replace.
- Define the change — enter the text to find and the text to replace it with, and set the scope (the pages to include).
- Review the dry-run preview. Before anything is written, the app shows exactly which pages match and how many replacements will be made on each. Nothing has changed at this point.
- Confirm to apply. The app snapshots each page's prior state, then applies the replacements and shows you the results.
- Undo if needed. If a change wasn't what you intended, use the in-app undo to roll back — a single page or the whole batch.
Free vs. paid
The app has a genuinely useful free tier: dry-run preview, applying changes to a small batch of pages, and undo are all available for free. A paid subscription removes the batch-size limit so you can apply a change across an entire large space in one operation. Pricing is per-user and billed by Atlassian through the Marketplace.
Safety & data
- Every change is preceded by a preview — the app never writes without your confirmation.
- Every applied change is reversible via undo.
- Your content stays in your Atlassian instance — no external calls, no content stored off-platform. See the Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
- The app isn't in the sidebar. Confirm it's installed (Manage apps) and that you're inside a space, then reload the page.
- A UI change isn't showing after an update. Do a hard refresh of the page — the app bundle is cached by the browser.
- Fewer matches than expected. Check the scope you selected and that the find text matches exactly; review the preview before applying.
